Events for the entire family are celebrated during Q1+2 2020

What do frog legs, pelicans, water lilies and craft brews all have in common? They are all festivals held throughout the year that connect locals and travelers to art, food, Mother Nature and even wine + beer. Festivals bring about a sense of community, where thousands of like-minded strangers become friends sharing in the celebration while introducing visitors to the unique personalities of Vero Beach, Fellsmere and Sebastian.

Here are some of the more popular festivals scheduled during the first half of 2020:

• If frog legs and gator tails are your thing, then you’re in good company! Every January for the past 26 years, the Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival puts Fellsmere, Florida, on the map. This festival has become a huge draw for visitors who want to experience homespun, Florida-fun, and of course locals who want to join their family and friends enjoying the best the sunshine state offers. Hop to the festival from January 16-19, 2020.
• Artists and musicians come together at Riverview Park and along the Sebastian riverfront for an interesting and lively event January 18-19, 2020 during the Sebastian Riverfront Fine Art & Music Festival.  Paintings, jewelry, ceramics, glass blowing, wood carving, photography, pottery and metalwork are on display.
• GardenFest - A must for backyard gardeners who yearn for a simple or sophisticated environment. Learn from the area’s best. Get tips and trade secrets while enjoying a day amongst colorful flowers. A variety of backyard accessories are also on display for this February 1-2, 2020 event.
• 11th Annual Motor Car Exhibition, February 8, 2020The British are coming! During McKee Botanical Garden’s 9th Annual Motor Car Exhibition on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 10 am to 3 pm. This is one of Vero Beach’s most popular and highly anticipated events as forty British automobiles are on display throughout the Garden including a 1958 Tojeiro Jaguar, a Bentley 8 Liter, a 2018 McLaren 720S, 1937 BSA Scout, a 1953 Jaguar C-Type and many more!
• Craft Brew and Wingfest - The craft brew effect seems to be taking hold in Vero Beach, as more than 10,000 festival goers attend the annual Craft Brew and Wingfest celebration at Royal Palms Point on February 15, 2020. The community is dedicated to giving back, and this charitable festival benefits the Rotary Club of Vero Beach Sunrise. A pre-party event, craft brew competitions, live music, and a kid friendly pavilion, and dancing water fountains keep active children engaged.
• 54th Annual Grant Seafood Festival. February 29th – March 1, 2020. Free admission, free parking, over 125 crafters exhibiting, live continuous entertainment, along with a scrumptious menu of succulent seafood makes this a weekend no one wants to miss. What sets this seafood festival apart from others is that it runs through a 100% volunteer effort! All preparation, whether it be on the grounds or with the purchasing, cooking or serving of the various menu items is accomplished by volunteers of the community. We do not have any food vendors on site.
• Pelican Island Wildlife Festival - This March 7, 2020 festival honoring the area’s natural resources is also a birthday party for the Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, the USA’s first national refuge (dedicated in 1903). At this 28^th annual event visitors will celebrate a day (10am-4pm) devoted to the environment while enjoying pontoon boat tours, live wildlife shows, jaw-dropping photography displays and non-stop family fun in Sebastian.
• Under the Oaks - Riverside Park is a wonderful gathering place, and Under the Oaks is one of America’s premier art shows. From March 13-15, more than 80,000 visitors will descend on the park as Under the Oaks gets underway with 200 vendors: artists, painters, jewelers, sculptures, pottery and ceramic, glass artists and more gather to unveil treasures both small and grand. Florida Magazine readers voted it the “best arts and crafts festival in Florida," and it was rated #2 in the 25^th edition of Sunshine Artist’s “100 Best Fine Arts and Design Shows in America.”
• Great for kids of all ages, the Children's Art Festival is April 27, 2019. This is the 36th year of this fun family event - and it's free.  Lots of art making activities for the kids, entertainment, student art displays and just a happy time in small town setting at the Vero Beach Museum of Art.
• Hibiscus Festival - The Vero Beach downtown historic district, recognized as the area’s art district, is the backdrop for the Hibiscus Festival Art Show. More than 50 artists will display art for sale, including ceramics, metals, oils, acrylics, photography, sculpture, watercolor and wood. Visit us to learn more about this 17^th annual event March 28-29, 2020.
• Vero Beach Air Show. April 25 – 26, 2020 (Only happens every 2 years!). The Blue Angels are returning to the Vero Beach Regional Airport! The event includes aerial performances by the Blue Angels, aircraft displays and an airshow food fest.
• 31st Annual May Pops. May 5, 2020. May Pops, the most lavish and anticipated outdoor party of the year will take place at the Indian River County Fairgrounds. Now in its 30th year, thanks to Presenting Sponsors Helen Post and The Plansoen Foundation, this time-honored tradition is a spectacular conclusion to Vero Beach’s season of shows and events featuring a late afternoon concert al fresco by the Brevard Symphony Orchestra.
• Vero Beach Wine and Film Festival – From June 11-14, 2020, The 5^th Annual Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival is a marriage of fine wines and films to provide a social, cultural event over a long weekend of private events in intimate settings. Featuring top boutique vintners from around the country and unique films from both Hollywood and Independents, this is a unique, full-bodied experience to celebrate “a life worth living.”
• McKee Waterlily Celebration – On June 20, 2020, The McKee Botanical Gardens will host its annual waterlily festival and enchant travelers with colorful blooms and sweet perfumes. The lilies also provide ecological benefits for ponds, creating a natural sunshade for fish and minimizing algae growth. With more than 500 blooms, this waterlily collection is the largest in the Sunshine state.

Here in Los Angeles, the Cityzens Giving Healthy Goals program empowers young leaders to bring to light the importance of healthy living to youngsters across the city through the power of soccer.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Nexen Tire teamed up with Manchester City to provide on-site support for the program in LA. Nexen’s support enabled Manchester City community coaches to return for a second year to deliver training to 16 Young Leaders on a pitch that was first donated to East LA Rising by Manchester City and the UAE Embassy in 2011.

Through a combination of classroom- and on-the-pitch workshops, the Young Leaders developed their leadership and life skills, practical planning and an understanding of how to use soccer as a tool to educate local youngsters on the benefits of exercise and nutrition, and to promote healthy lifestyle choices. The Young Leaders then put their newly developed skills into action by planning and delivering a Thanksgiving football festival for more than 100 children from the local community on the final day.

In addition, Nexen has donated $1,500 toward holiday meals which were gifted to families from the program. Nexen has also provided three sets of its NPriz AH8 Grand Touring All Season tires for use on transportation vans. East LA Rising can now confidently transport youngsters who participate in the program safely and securely thanks to new tires from Nexen.

Nexen Tire’s continued generous support and participation in the Cityzens Giving program helps to further the impact of Healthy Goals which was successfully launched in 2017. To date, the program has empowered over 40 Young Leaders who have in turn positively impacted the lives of 487 young people in LA using the universal language of football.
