Old McMicky’s Farm and 13 Tampa Bay Area Family Services Organizations Announce 1st Annual Child Adoption Education Day

This FREE, casual event allows attendees to learn about the adoption process

At any given time, an average of over 200 local Tampa Bay area children are in need of a forever family. Old McMicky’s Farm in partnership wit 13 Tampa Bay Area Family Services agencies, will be hosting the First Annual Tampa Bay Child Adoption Education Day to educate the public about adoption. This first of its kind, cross-agency and cross-county effort, aims to educate potential parents in order to help find more Forever Families for local children. The goal of the event is to invite anyone who has ever had interest in starting or growing their family to come and learn in one easy afternoon how the adoption process works, all of the support and services available both pre and post adoption, and most importantly, all of the personal and emotional rewards for their family and the children. Over 100 people have already registered to attend.

This event is being organized and hosted by the beautiful Old McMicky’s Farm in Odessa, FL. Representatives from each organization will have the opportunity to explain the role they play in the adoption process. Plus, adoptive parents and their adopted children will speak to let everyone know what adoption has meant in their lives. It is FREE to all attendees and is a casual, no-pressure learning atmosphere where everyone can have open conversation and get all of their questions answered. Every major organization that is involved in the adoption process in the Tampa Bay area is partnering to make this great day happen.

The Heart Gallery: The mission of the Heart Gallery is to increase the number of successful adoptions of local children currently in foster care. In addition to featuring children, we recruit and support families interested in adoption.  The Heart Gallery was founded on the belief that every child deserves a home. There are no unwanted children, only unfound families.

It began with a simple idea. Create an extraordinary portrait of a foster child and it will capture the heart of prospective parents. The Heart Gallery works hand in hand with our lead agency partner, Eckerd Community Alternative, as well as deeply committed caseworkers from Directions for Living, Lutheran Services Florida, and Youth & Family Alternatives. For more information, visit www.heartgallerykids.org

Eckerd Community Alternatives | Hillsborough: Eckerd Community Alternatives | Hillsborough serves as the Community-Based Care Lead Agency for child welfare and foster care services in Hillsborough County and is responsible for the safety, well-being and permanency of over 2,900 children and their families each day.   It is a program of Eckerd, a national nonprofit organization headquartered in Clearwater, Florida that has given much-needed second chances to over 150,000 children and families since its founding by Jack and Ruth Eckerd in 1968.  To learn more visit Eckerd.org.
