MOVIE SCREENING SINCE MARCH!
parkCINEMA Returns to Curtis Hixon Park for a Special
(and Spaced) FREE Screening of It’s A Wonderful Life on Dec. 12
A devoted family man loses his small business and questions his own worth. A power-hungry real-estate tycoon slaps his name on an unsavory town full of sleazy entertainment venues and sketchy individuals. No, it’s not the latest batch of 2020 headlines, but it IS one of Tampa Theatre’s favorite holiday classics, and it still has a lot to teach us today, even 74 years after its initial release.
On Saturday, Dec. 12, Tampa Theatre’s popular parkCINEMA program – presented by the F.E. Lykes Foundation – returns to Winter Village at Curtis Hixon Park for a FREE, socially distanced screening of the Frank Capra classic It’s a Wonderful Life at 7:00pm.
Attendance for the outdoor screening is limited, and each party (up to six people) will be seated in one of 40 designated “pods” spread across the lawn. Reservations are required, and can be made via Eventbrite at:

Concessions will be available from local vendors, and the Shops at Winter Village will be open; picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged!
This screening of It’s a Wonderful Life marks the first public event Tampa Theatre has planned since closing due to COVID on March 12. The community-supported movie palace is completing some HVAC upgrades to improve air quality and circulation, and hopes to reopen the landmark Theatre in January.
“The past eight months have easily been the darkest in Tampa Theatre’s 94-year history,” says Tampa Theatre President and CEO, John Bell. “But just like George Bailey, we have learned how much love and support is reflected back to us from our friends and neighbors, and that – despite the challenges 2020 has presented – we are truly blessed with a wonderful life in our wonderful Tampa community.”
